John Schumacher, Home Finance Broker

With 30 years banking and finance experience, clients will have a wealth of knowledge to tap into when using my services. My main clients are first home buyers, busy professionals and families looking for a new home. People come to me because they want to take the stress out of purchasing property, save time and paperwork, and learn how to manage their mortgage debt in a manner which suits their lifestyle.

More recently I have branched out into finance coaching which is a fee-based service designed to help clients gain better control over their mortgages and budgets.

My top finance tips

Don’t over commit. House ownership is supposed to be enjoyable, so even if a bank will lend you a lot of money make sure it remains firmly within your budget. That’s the other tip; work on a budget, simplify your banking and automate everything possible.

Customers and loans

Whilst the majority of my clients seek mainstream mortgages, I also have thorough knowledge surrounding personal loans, second mortgages and construction loans. In addition, I can provide personal insurance services and am an approved advisor for Sovereign Ltd.

First home buyers are my favourite clients as it is rewarding to help them achieve what will be the most important decision they can make. I make sure they understand the whole process and work as their advocate throughout the process.

Families are also close to my heart. With two young boys, I understand the stresses and lack of time that having family responsibilities can sometimes bring! I work flexible hours so can visit clients at a time which suits them, and take on the legwork involved in having the home loan processed.

Single young professionals put their trust in me. Many don’t have parents or trusted advisors who live nearby, and I am happy to share my expertise. With busy lives and burgeoning careers, they’re often time-poor and don’t have a great deal of time to research nor fill in all the paperwork that goes with taking out a mortgage. Securing home finance can be a daunting experience so I will ensure the process goes smoothly.

Personal insurance advice is very important to obtain. A key element to taking on debt is managing the associated risks. As an approved advisor for Sovereign Ltd I take pride in ensuring clients do not face hardship at times of loss or if life does not go as planned.

Business networks

I work closely with real estate agents, accountants, lenders and conveyancers to ensure your property purchase is as smooth and financially beneficial as possible. I have good relationships with professionals in all these areas and because of this my clients receive outstanding service in all aspects of the property purchasing process.

Auckland Customers

Auckland’s central city ring is the geographic area where I visit most of my clients. This includes the city centre, Herne Bay, Westmere, Point Chevalier, Mt Albert, Mt Eden, Ellerslie, Morningside, Western Springs, Kingsland, Avondale, Waterview, New Lynn and Te Atatu.
